They say assumptions is the root cause of major miss-understandings and conflicts. One sub conscious assumption that all of us often create is the dependency of people on us and vice-versa. This usually happens when your relationship with any person starts getting stronger or there already exists a strong relationship between any two people. Such dependencies vary from person to person and is dependent on the kind of relationship two people share. These variation are also dependent on your expectations with other person, but what we all often forget is while these practices might ease our life for a while but we soon get addicted to them and start creating a comfort zone. From this moment it self we stop our personal growth. Such dependencies also lead to many more silent expectations and assumptions; like the availability of other person, expecting a troubleshooting session from the other person at all points of time and the worst drawback is our mindset that leads to being judgmental about people. When the same person who has been for you fails to stand by even once We fail to understand that every person has his/her own limitations and also goes through various situations in life, other person might also have priorities and may also have his/her own constraints.
Next time when you feel you are dependent on someone or expect any person to do a task for you, understand that there is a difference between sharing of responsibilities and handing over your own responsibilities to others, while there is no harm in seeking assistance but you would only make yourself week by considering yourself helpless. From many truths of life one truth is that rejections that we face in life are amongst our best teachers. Life moves only till the time we have the will to move ahead.
It is equally important to understand that any one approaching us for assistance may be lacking guidance only today and hence looks up to you as a mentor, but it is foolishness to create a mind block that the person is dependent on you and wouldn’t survive without you. In urge of showcasing yourself at a higher level you might just topple down when you realize the truth that the only survival that is dependent on you is that of your own life and no one else’s.
