Equality is overrated
I have been longing to write about equality but chose to be quiet in personal interest, looking at the spree on equality being nurtured around women's day.
What does equal mean to you? How would you define equal in a layman’s language?
Does equal exist beyond Mathematics or Dictionary? If yes how would you measure it?
Can there ever be equality between two people or different genders? What about the various traits that two genders in themselves carry?
How would you measure equality or demand it when there is inequality amongst the genders themselves, and rightly so because no two individuals would be equally skilled or talented. Even if two people get same kind of education and environment the outcome of such exposure may still reflect in different ways in these two individuals. How can we possibly demand equality when each one of us around are different and like to be treated differently, each one of us has different set of expectations from their surroundings, we pick one thing over the other based on our likes, believes and goals.
We as a society need to focus on rights that a human should get, we need to increase opportunities and exposure for the ones who are behind. More than anything, it is education and security that needs to be taken care of.
In my opinion “Equality” is an overrated term, it is the basics that needs to be taken care of.
We need to happily accept the changes that exist and start focusing on strengths of either section, while weaknesses take time to be converted into strength, it is probably easier to polish strengths to make a person stronger.
The positive change has begun, just fuel it right.
