Fasting; a spiritual practice not religious

Almost all religions around us have a common practice of fasting, even though this is prcaticed at different time of the years for different religions, the message that our ancestors wanted to pass was simple- Advantages of Self Control. Talking about Navratris, fasting is different from the practice of alternate food that people have now started eating during this duration of fast. Fasting as a concept can align you with the basics of life and when practiced in proper manner also assist you achieve self control. Detoxification of body and relief to stomach are added benefits that you can achieve. Here I am not trying to promote fasting but am reiterating that certain rituals were made for a bigger reason that we seem to have forgotten over a period of time. Fast to slow down a little and catch up with life, festivals were made to celebrate family and other relationships and value togetherness.

Happy Festival Time
