In Uniform

While surfing through the home page of my Facebook account, I found an article that was shared by one of Indian ex-Service man, I read through it and realized, that while people abroad took initiative to make the family members feel proud and supported them in hour of need, but such initiatives lacked here in India. Even if they did they were not initiated at the hour of need, here words speak more than deeds while it should be the other way round. My first exposure to men in uniform and the respect for them comes through my childhood days when I saw many of them travelling in train during my summer vacations when I used to travel to Delhi or on the way back to Vizag or vice versa. Mere presence of them made me feel so protected that I used to admire them a lot even as a child when I would not even know how there hard duties helped us breathe in peace. My blog for today is not only dedicated to men in uniform from the defense, but for every person in uniform who knows to respect it and has the etiquette to carry it with pride. I salute every that person who takes pride in uniform and completes his/her job with responsibility to ensure we get the comfort that we think we most deserve but unfortunately we ignore the silent expectation of such efforts being acknowledged.

Next time when you walk buy, don’t forget to acknowledge the guard of your colony who ensures your safety at home, the watchman in uniform who has sleepless nights against your restful nights. The traffic controller who fights all weathers, the doctor in uniform who’s only dream is to save one more life, the nurse who is a mother at hospital, the captain who flies you safe the attendant who makes your flight comfortable. While you would get to meet many of these in daily lives but you would rarely get a chance to meet the ones there at border so express your gratitude to the men at border, the ones in water and the fliers in sky by one simple initiative; next time when you have a reason to create chaos and disturb the peace, remember they have been working hard to let you breathe.
