Meditation was quiet a heavy word until few months back, and the first thought that came to my mind was of a peaceful place, loneliness, closed eyes and no distraction at all. Many of you would have the same thoughts now as well. I don’t know how right I am, but I have learnt a different definition of Meditation. The happiness that you feel and the peace that surrounds you is the outcome of living in the moment, and that is what meditation is, living the current moment being in now enjoying today. I have felt this joy many a times when I smile without any reason and am simply happy. This happiness gives immense peace.
An incident from yesterday makes me write this blog. I was busy on a Date with God, people in groups were reading one of the holy books and playing various musical instruments. I too picked one of my favorite ones and started playing, matching rhythm and enjoying the sound of it. Over a period of time my focus entirely shifted to just the music and the soothing sound, my eyes were closed and I felt immense peace and happiness. They were people around chanting mantras and bhajan, they were other instruments playing, but none of it seemed to distract me. All I could hear and enjoy was playing the instrument that I picked, and after the ritual came to end the peace lasted for even longer and happiness reflected on my face for hours ahead. I had lived each moment of that hour and learnt what exactly meditation is.
