Parenting-A-Concept

This one comes as I sit waiting for my turn to learn more about my body and manage my health. I didn’t really get a chance to share my thoughts in a long time. One of the random thought that crosses my mind as I wait is that my child is waiting for me at home, and then starts the chain of thoughts that follow. Do I need to be a Parent to a human being to learn, grow and understand the cycle of life? Why do our Vedas’ focus on, “being a parent is an essential part of growing as a human and becoming wiser”. With changing times we need to adapt to a concept and apply it in a manner that suits today’s lifestyle.

Today humans are happy to be parents to pets, plants and partial parents by financially adding and supporting children in need without taking the complete responsibility of raising a kid emotionally. What’s different is the choice that a person has made for his growth as an individual. You would find people around who are parents to human but still not attached and then you would find people who are parents to pet and plants and yet are wiser than others. If the idea is just to learn and get wiser with time then why force people to have kids and especially create pressure on women. Times have changed, now we can’t and don’t expect kids to live with us through the life and support us when we are in need. Parenting in not a give and take game. We choose to give our best because that gives us happiness. Giving in the name of expecting our child to pay returns would actually be a selfish act of gamble that may or may not turn in our favour.

Many lessons of parenting are also well learned via taking care of pets and plants. These may be short term but they have the power to make you a better person. Any responsibility that you take up with a smile and wish has the capability of teaching you the best as against a pressurised decision. What the world needs today is the concept of parenting- the unconditional love and happy adaptation, not a sacrifice.
