Prayer is a Ritual that is performed every day in mostly all families in India. While it must have started with participation of all members in the family but have now reached a stage where the younger participates only when they are required mandatorily. I don’t find myself capable of defining What a Prayer is and what exactly is required to perform this ritual. For me it is a way to communicate with God, while I do agree that this communication should certainly be done in a manner that clearly showcases respect but I abstain from any rituals that are beyond my understanding and which seem to have no logic to me.
What does a prayer session mean to us is dependent on the attitude that we carry and the kind of outlook we have towards life. Ideally a prayer session should be a thanks giving session and not a demanding session for if you look around you would realize that you have many a things that others don’t, if you acknowledge what you have you would understand that you have been blessed with all that you need for a survival for there is no end to luxury that you may desire, God is kind enough to maintain a balance between your wishes and your needs. For even if you get everything that you think is your current need, you would still be left with something or the other, but you would never understand how achieving your dreams over a period of time has taught you the skills of survival and how it has prepared you for the unseen tough times.
A saying I totally believe in is that we all came empty handed and would leave the same way. So why waste energies in thinking what you haven’t achieved and complaining about it to God, rather why not thanking God for what you have.
