The identity crisis
I wonder what does it feel like to find an identity or lose an identity, isn’t just being your own self an identity of you? But then what is your true self? The one that you are living? The one you aim to live? Or the one you were some time somewhere in life and can now never be?
What exactly is a person’s identity? do people have just one identity or do they juggle through many along their life?
For millions of us our identity starts and gets over with a name that was given to us at birth. What is it that we constantly aspire to do? Where when and how do we want to be recognized?
A truth that we all live, but hardly believe in is that none of us is one faced. It is only correct to accept that we all have multiple identities at the same time and our subconscious target is not actually to have an identity but it is to be irreplaceable. Each one of us wants to represent the best in the respective class, be it becoming the best child, best sibling, best friend, best partner, best parent or best professional. We often forget that our identity is made with combination of our best, worst and neutral.
We hardly focus on what exactly is a true picture of us and keep running to add these tags and endless social media profiles next to our names, and in this quest, we often lose ourselves to artificial insecurities and irrelevant achievements that keep crossing our mind.
You will only help yourself when you accept yourself as who you currently are and not what you wanted/want to be.
