Inspiration for today’s blog comes from the passenger sitting on the aisle seat parallel to me, he was talking about something to his daughter and then suddenly he said “touchwood” and while saying so he touched the arm rest of aircraft seat, I was in dilemma, where is wood here, and then I thought why do we actually say touch wood? how is it that touching wood would keep you away from negative/evil. This is one common practice that most of us follow and I am equally certain that most of us don’t even know as to why we say so. They are many such acts of superstition which we proudly follow but we are unaware of the logic behind them. While small acts of superstitions that don’t really impair your daily activities or thought process may be deemed as ignorant but the truth is that such regular practices block your mind and create an obstruction to clear thought processes and applying logics.
I am not saying that I have never followed certain rituals under the influence of superstition but I have certainly reduced such practices to minimum or unconscious state of mind, following superstitious acts is up to your choice and I have no say in your decision but before you perform such acts just be sure that you are ready to endanger your mental growth and clear though process towards life.
