Your glass, half empty or half full?

Grass is not always greener on the other side!!!

Negativity has settled in us so much that we tend to ignore the comforts and blessings that we witness in our day to day life. An unconscious but consistent pattern that we have started following is that of cribbing all the time. All we see now is, the glass half empty. It’s sad that we have designed our lives in a manner that just makes us feel low and helpless, but the truth is that if you start comparing with others ;to what you have, that many other millions in this country don’t have you would realize how privileged you are. As I write these lines, I realize that there is probably a different reason to why we feel so negative, probably we have diverted our vision and we fail to understand what gives us true happiness, we often start comparing it to the luxuries that others possess. We don’t realize that luxury is not in possessing something materialistic and scarce, but true luxury is in possessing that is in abundance in universe, but which we keep ignoring, because we don’t possess the right attitude to earn it; It is joy of today. Happiness is in valuing our loved ones and living with them, happiness is in expressing gratitude for what we have. When I say you have to express gratitude, it’s not always about saying thank you for everything, but it is about acknowledging what you have, it is about living the pride in what you have earned from life. Only thing that you can earn which no one else can snatch, is your moments, your memories. Make the most of today and live what true happiness is. Instead of spending endless time of your life looking into what your acquaintances life’s updates are, if you start acknowledging the presence of your loved ones and the situations that they are going through in their lives, you would realize your life is much more calm and beautiful while developing better life with your loved ones.

Next time when you are stuck in traffic in your air conditioned car, don’t forget to look at the ones who are sweating in summer heat, or getting drenched in rain.

Next time when you travel back home alone at late evenings, do pay attention to those families travelling together and see what you are losing on in spending endless hours at work and by ignoring your loved ones.

When you witness the so called sophistication on dinner table at a luxurious place, don’t forget to compare it with smiles and moments of togetherness spent at some street food counter or some other restaurant where happiness is not compared with luxuries.

You may have priorities in life, but you lose comfort the moment you lose control on what gives you happiness. Having been said that, I do agree that certain luxuries may give you motivation and moments of joy, but never misinterpret these to be your true happiness. Each one of you truly know what gives you happiness. Live it now, live it today for there is no future without the present
