Relationships
biased on perceptions?

A normal conversation with a strange outlook is the resultant of today’s blog. Sad but true, perceptions play a very important role in our decision making. I interacting with an elderly member and hence chose to speak in Hindi, not that it was decided but it came naturally as I would have done with my grandparents probably, maybe there was a perception in my subconscious mind that elderlies are more comfortable speaking in mother tongue and not in English. My friend who analyzed this situation just gave a flaunting comment that there wasn’t any need to speak in so much Hindi as the person whom you spoke to was well educated. This comment made me think, does speaking in our mother language makes us less educated or create a perception that we aren’t as educated as others? How many times have you judged a person as un-educated just because he/she preferred to speak in their mother tongue. This was just one example of how perceptions often result into miss-leading conclusions. I hope we are conscious enough to be fair before coming to conclusions based on perceptions.
