Relationships
focused listening, enhanced selective listening

They say that your surroundings are full of earnings but I feel that youth of today has silently reduced the possibility of it by remaining ear plugged with music or being occupied with chat over phone. On my flight from Delhi to Mumbai I observed that two people sitting behind my seat were having conversation on various newspapers, though I usually don't divert my attention towards others conversation but this time I chose to do focus listening and started paying attention to their conversation as they were discussing strategies adopted by various news papers and the kind of news each paper prints, I got to know very interesting facts about newspaper marketing plan, revenue generation, the idea behind circulating newspapers at specific time of the day and how they reach their target audience. I felt tempted to ask them certain questions but I refrained from doing so as I was on duty and had to pay attention towards my work too. It is after this episode that I understood a new aspect of selective listening and how it can be a boon. Rather than lending ears to gossips you should practice focus listening and then arrive to technique of selective listening to gain the most from your surroundings.
