learn through teaching

A thought crossed my mind thrice and each time I thought I would write about it. As I have already started writing my blog for the day I really hope I get the same thought yet again. Hey, I did get it back. I decided to take my nephew to a temple to show him celebrations of Janmashtmi, I wanted him to be aware about the lords whom most Hindus often pray too and wanted him to relate to the cartoons of Ganesha, Hanuman and Krishna. We took flowers as part of offerings and I told the young one that this is a gift you are taking for the birthday boy like people get you gifts on your birthday. For me it was not important for him to know the mythological lessons but what was important was that he gets familiar to these names and be able to relate to things May be later in life, I told him Radha maiya was Shri Krishnas best friend. As we moved ahead crossing all idols I asked him do you want to ask God for anything, I said you May close your eyes put your hands together and ask for a wish at which he very innocently asked for a toy. Second time when I asked him to make one more wish he was confused and had no immediate demands so I told him its ok to just close eyes if something comes to your mind you May ask for it, if not you May leave it. The connect and moral values that you set in a child starts from early age, but your expectations from a child should be simple and not at the level that you stand at. Its important to build in connect and familiarity, lessons can also Be learned as the child grows, similarly when you are introduced to something new your learning should start with familiarity followed by skills and setting impact. You often learn more and have better logic to things when you teach others. You also end up learning new aspects of old thoughts. Did you ever notice that teaching could be best form of learning.
