All of us are good friends of some one or the other and have good friends as well, we often fall into situation where in we have to assist our friend to take a decision to guide them through the right path and find a solution to the problem.
One thing that instantly happens to us is that we automatically take charge of the situation and try to take decision on their behalf which is absolutely wrong because though you may try to put yourself in their shoes but you really can’t feel the same was as they do, and the second reason being your right may not necessarily be right to them, then what happens when they feel they have increased their trouble by following your decision? Oops have you lost your friendship? Are they now going to be conflicts? But your intentions were always right, so how is it that miss-understanding has took place.
But you really wanted to assist your friend, then what to do?
The best way out is be a good listener, listen to your friend, ask him/her relevant questions according to situation, ask such questions that helps your friend have a deeper insight to the situation and assist him/her analyze it better.
Tell your friend to have faith in himself.
You may always bring in the truth of life and also let them know that they aren’t the first ones to be in trouble, all of us go through this phase and it would get over soon.
And at last suggest and not impose what you could have done if you were at their place.
