Various thoughts pass through my mind when I think about writing todays blog and I am not sure as to which of this thought would be converted into words even after I start writing this blog. What should I write about? Something that really made a difference today or some thought that has been running in my mind for long and needs to be expressed?
So I decide to come back to what I liked about today, and before I continue please accept my belated wishes for HOLI, hope you all had a safe and colorful HOLI. While I was Sitting with family and having dinner I asked a question to my elderlies as to why and how was the concept of colors launched for this festival what is the significance of it? As I write this blog I also looked in Google to find answers to my curiosity, I thought it would be helpful for my readers to revise something they had always written in there essays in school days and probably I would be able to add yet another reason that we ain’t aware of or a blind folded to. So here comes various reason for celebration; one of course is related to Prahlad and his Aunt Holika, I am sure we all are aware of it, other reason that I came across was that Lord Krishna always used to keep complaining to his mother about his dark complexion and Radha Fair complexion so his mother used to apply dark colors to Radha, but this really doesn’t make sense to me as we don’t play Holi with any specific dark color but we play it with various colors. Then I came across the concept of 7 main forces of God under Hinduism and that we don’t usually worship all forces and two these forces play role in ourt life only after a death, so according to Hindu mythology as a mark to a particular year we celebrate Holi with different colors that symbolize all of these forces and apply colors to each other to wish them luck and get them blessed with all 7 forces. Which are:- indra, Shakti, Kama, Shiva, Brahma, Vishnu and Yama.
Now I would take this opportunity to come to my thought process of Holi, we all often forget the significance of colors in our life, and stick to our favorites while each one of them has deep meaning engraved, hence it is important to have at least one dedicated day to celebrate the beautiful colors that nature has provided us. If you can recollect we had learnt that how primary colors when mixed with each other creates beautiful secondary colors, the concept of this also applies to what we do in social gathering at festivals, it gives us an opportunity to learn and admire what we have and how openness to new thoughts and meeting people is a source of knowledge. Colors bring happiness and positive vibes. Admire each and don’t forget to live each color at periodic intervals in your life.
